Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

DiagMyPCHub is a step-by-step computer troubleshooting library. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the site collects, why it collects it, and what you can do about it. It covers the site as it exists today — if something changes, this page will be updated and the date above will change with it.

Information we collect

  • Contact form. When you send us a message via the contact page, we receive your name, email address, an optional subject line and your message. These are sent to our inbox at diagmypchub@gmail.com and stored there (in a Gmail mailbox). We use them only to reply to you or act on your request — we do not add you to mailing lists, sell the data, or share it with anyone.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, the date and time of each request, the pages you visit, and the browser you use. We use these to keep the site secure (for example, spotting abusive traffic) and to understand basic usage.
  • Preferences stored on your device only. A few settings are kept in your browser's local storage — your light/dark theme choice, your cookie-consent decision, and any ticks you make on the pre-flight checklist. This data never leaves your device; we cannot see it and it is not part of anything we collect.

Cookies

We do not set our own cookies — the preferences above live in local storage, not cookies. Two Google services do use cookies or equivalent identifiers:

Google Analytics

The site loads Google Analytics on all pages. It may set cookies such as _ga and _gid in your browser so that visits can be counted and aggregated across sessions. The data it collects (pages viewed, rough location derived from IP, device type) is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy. We do not use analytics to identify individual visitors.

Google Fonts

The site loads its fonts from Google's font servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Your browser sends your IP address to Google as part of those requests, and Google may cache the font files in your browser.

Third parties

At present the only third-party services involved are Google (Analytics and Fonts) and our own hosting server. No advertising network is connected: the reserved ad area on some pages is currently empty, and if an ad provider is added later we will name it here and explain what it collects before it goes live.

How long we keep things

  • Contact messages stay in our inbox while they are needed to answer you or handle your request; there is no automatic deletion schedule. Ask us if you want a specific message deleted.
  • Server logs are kept for as long as the hosting provider retains them and are overwritten over time.
  • Analytics cookies expire according to Google's defaults (the main identifier lasts about two years).
  • Your local-storage preferences persist until you clear them through your browser settings.

Your choices

  • Access, correction or deletion. Email diagmypchub@gmail.com and we will show you what we hold about you from the contact form, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it on request. (There are no user accounts on this site, so that mailbox is the only place your personal data lives.)
  • Cookies and analytics. You can change your cookie-consent choice at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, block cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • On-device data. Clearing your browser's site data removes the theme, consent and checklist preferences we store locally.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us their details via the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable care with the little data we hold: contact messages are stored in a password-protected email account, and the site is served over HTTPS in production so that form submissions travel encrypted between your browser and our server. We do not claim more protection than that — server logs are kept on ordinary hosting infrastructure.

Changes to this policy

If the site grows new features (accounts, advertising, other analytics), this policy will be updated to describe them before those features go live. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
